First up is a group dance by the guys choreographed by Justin Giles to “Prague” by Damien Rice. The routine is about the seven stages of grief. Marko appears to be the star of the routine. The cameras focus on him for the majority of the piece.

After the commercial break, Marko is back with Melanie for a jazz routine choreographed by Ray Leeper. They dance to “Americano” by Lady Gaga. They dance the routine effortlessly. Judge Nigel Lythgoe says that their technique matches their performance.

Carmen says that she can’t stop watching Sasha. Mary says she doesn’t see the swag in the routine. She adds that she doesn’t feel the connection. Nigel says that it felt like “hip-hop 101.” He says he’s disappointed. Travis says he didn’t hate it as much as Nigel did. He adds that they need to work on their musicality.

Ashley and Chris are next with a salsa choreographed by Liz Lira. They dance to “Mambo Beat” by Tito Puente. There are a lot of lifts and fast steps. Travis says the lifts were awesome. But the chemistry was not there. He also says the energy is lacking. Carmen says that they hesitated. “You weren’t quite hitting those moves,” she says. Mary says that there are some moments where Ashley was on fire. She says that Chris was there for her every step of the way. Nigel says that the lifts were terrific. Nigel says Chris doesn’t have the right feel for the routine.

Ryan and Ricky are next with a jazz routine choreographed by Chucky Klampow. They dance to “Fashion” by David Bowie. Carmen says that they “rocked.” She says the music and energy are great.
