TV Land will stay Happily Divorced.
The network has renewed the Fran Drescher comedy for another season. Inspired by the former Nanny star’s real life, the series follows a Los Angeles-based florist whose 18-year marriage ends suddenly when her husband (John Michael Higgins) announces he’s gay. The first season has averaged 2.2 million viewers.
“We are thrilled that our viewers have embraced Happily Divorced just like they did with Hot in Cleveland,” TV Land President Larry W. Jones said in a statement Wednesday.

“American Idol” creator Simon Fuller sued FOX Broadcasting Co. and Fremantle on Wednesday for an executive producer credit and fees for the upcoming FOX show “The X Factor.”
The lawsuit creates an exceedingly awkward situation both for FOX, which airs “Idol” and will debut “The X Factor” in September, and Fremantle, which produces both shows.
FOX said in a statement that the suit was “without merit.”
The suit springs from a 2005 attempt by FOX and Fremantle to make peace between the two Simons, both key to “Idol” becoming the most successful show on American TV.

The creator of “American Idol” sued the show’s broadcaster and producer claiming they have reneged on a deal to give him a stake in a rival competition show that is about to premiere in the United States.
Producer Simon Fuller is seeking an executive producer credit and the appropriate fees once “The X-Factor” – which was created by former “Idol” judge Simon Cowell – begins airing its U.S.-debut in September. His lawsuit is against Fox Broadcasting Co. and the show’s production company, FremantleMedia North America.
Fox will air both “Idol” and “X-Factor,” and FremantleMedia is producing both shows.
The lawsuit reignites longstanding tension between the forces that made “American Idol” one of the past decade’s most popular shows in the United States.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson says she plans to return to Brown University to complete her degree.
The British actress who plays Hermione Granger in the “Harry Potter” series tells The Virginian-Pilot that she remains enrolled at Brown even though she’ll study at England’s Oxford University in the fall.
She says intends to return to Providence in 2012 to complete her studies at the Ivy League school.
The 21-year-old Watson left Brown earlier this year, saying she wanted to devote her time to the final “Harry Potter” film and other acting opportunities.
The final chapter in the series premiered last week, setting box office records. I
