Nicolas Cage could be facing a child abuse investigation for falling while holding his 5-year-old son Kal-El. Kal-El suffered a “minor abrasion” in the fall. The incident happened just before Cage’s arrest for domestic violence, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness on April 16 in New Orleans.
The police report says Cage and wife Alice Kim were arguing about a house in the French Quarter when the National Treasure star “fell while holding their son.” “The fall caused the five year old child to suffer a minor abrasion [on] his life knee,” the report reads.
Cage, 47, “appeared heavily intoxicated” at the time of his arrest, according to a statement issued by the police department shortly after the incident occurred. “Cage and his wife were standing in front of a residence that he insisted was the property the couple was renting. She disagreed, and Cage grabbed her by the upper arm and pulled her to what he believed was the correct address. There were no visible signs of injury on his wife’s arm,” the police department said.
“The actor then began striking vehicles and later attempted to get into a taxi. At that point, an officer who had been flagged down by onlookers drove up on the couple, immediately observed that Cage was heavily intoxicated and ordered him out of the cab, which prompted Cage to start yelling. The officers subsequently took Cage to Central Lock-up,” the department added.
Cage’s first court appearance is set for May 31.
